SLC Preparation : Practice Makes Perfect

Last week, Grade 4 was busy preparing the Student Led Conference held on March 24 -25. Students worked in pairs to practice their presentation. While one student was presenting his or her conference, another student acted as an audience. They also worked together to time the presentation to make sure that the presentation didn't last too long or too short. They did this practice as a part of their preparation for the conference. 

From this activity students learn to show cooperation and communication skills. They also demonstrate some learner's profiles such as open minded, risk taker, caring and communicator. 

Students were also given choices to choose 3 pages of their portfolios and 3 other works from different subjects to be presented during the conference.

Student Led Conference

On  March 24 and 25  , Grade 4 students are having Student Led Conference. 

The SLC focus on the philosophy that evaluation is an important and constructive part of the learning process. Students are given an active and meaningful role in reviewing and reflecting on their own learning while the teachers plays a key role in structuring the event; offering ongoing positive and practical support and makes it possible for the students to move into a leadership role. 

Unit of work on Nutrition (Term I)

Grade 4 class started its first unit of work on Nutrition. There were many activities student did during this unit of work. They learnt data handling using nutrition facts taken from some food packages in mathematics. They learnt how to interview and collect some information of healthy food during their visit to school cafe. They made a podcast to share their knowledge about the healthy food and its connection to  the human growth (the skeletal system). They also worked in pairs to find the names of bones in a human body.

Indonesian Language Activity

The second unit of our work was Indonesian history and geography. In Indonesian language class, students chose one of Indonesian islands to be their topic. They looked for some information from books, parents, internet, friends or teachers about the island they chose. After that, they presented the information using Keynote, collected some pictures and exported the slides into iMovie. The final task was to present their topic in class using appropriate and formal Indonesian language.

 

Membuat cerita mengenai banjir

Sesuai dengan unit yang sedang dipelajari mengenai bencana alam, pada pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia, para siswa kelas 4 membuat cerita mengenai banjir. Setelah sebelumnya belajar memahami isi sebuah cerita dan bagian-bagiannya, mereka pun kemudian membuat cerita digital yang dilengkapi dengan penulisan mengenai judul cerita, penokohan, alur cerita beserta setting waktu dan tempat dari cerita itu secara berkelompok. Ini adalah salah satu bentuk cerita yang sedang mereka kerjakan. Selamat menikmati!
